This week has been a total bust. I have bronchitis which refuses to get better and I had to call off work more than once. The only thing I can hope for at this point, is that next week goes smoother. It would be nice if this cough would go away, also.
In the spirit of healing, I will continue to rest and hydrate as much as possible.
I hope everyone else is feeling better than me.
The holiday season is upon us, as is the cold & flu season. With that in mind, I am going to be changing my blog post schedule.
Until now, I have been posting twice a week, on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. With my currently hectic schedule and being sidelined by sickness, I will be posting only on Saturday’s for the foreseeable future.
I hope that everyone has a lovely, healthy, stress-free winter.
It’s December, there is snow on the ground, and I am sick. Of course. I’ve caught it right at the beginning, so hopefully it doesn’t last too long.
I just worked six days in a row, which didn’t help. But, I have a lighter week ahead. Of that I am super happy.
Now, it’s time for me to get some sleep and hydrate. I hope everyone else is feeling better than me right now.
I just started watching the History Channel show Vikings and I am hooked!! I can’t believe I waited so long to start watching it. This show alone makes having Amazon Prime Video totally worth the annual investment.
I would continue to wax poetic about the show for pages and pages, but I want to know what happens next.
So, life being what it is, I’m about 10,000 words behind and there is only a week left of November. I don’t think I’m going to make it, but I’m pretty happy about how far I got in my first attempt.
Maybe next year I’ll get a little farther.
Maybe I’ll even make it all the way to the end.
Who knows – stranger things have happened.
It’s almost Turkey Day!! The food holiday that many people look forward to all year long. It’s the one day when eating way too much is not only socially acceptable, but absolutely expected. The day for stretchy pants and food coma’s.
It’s a day for being thankful for what we have and spending time with family while eating fabulous food. I’m not hosting Thanksgiving this year, but we were invited to a cousin’s house for dinner. She has everything covered, but I wanted to bring her a little something anyway. So, I had a bit of a baking day today.
I made Shortbread Cookies using a recipe from GeniusKitchen.com
I made a Pumpkin Roll using a recipe from GimmeSomeOven.com
I made Raspberry Pastry Roll-Ups using a recipe from GeniusKitchen.com
And, I made Cheesecake Stuffed Banana Bread using a recipe from CookiesandCups.com
It was a fun and tasty day.
I’m super thankful for all the people in my life who are there when I need them. I’m also thankful for my husband, dogs, and birds. Our little family unit makes me happy every day and I will always be grateful that we are together.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
My procedure went well yesterday. I’m still pretty sore, but otherwise doing fine. I go back next week to find out what the doctor found out, if anything.
That’s it for now. I gotta go lay back down.
Talk to you again, soon.
I’m having surgery in two days. I’ve had this type of surgery before and I know that it’s routine, but I’m still feeling a little nervous. I just keep telling myself that this may be exactly what I need to finally get where I’ve been going for the past sixteen years.
I can hope at least.
So, if you can, send me good vibes, positive thoughts, what have you. I would greatly appreciate it.
See you on the other side.
I want to apologize in advance for how short this post is going to be. I have been writing so much for NaNoWriMo and working so much for the holiday season that I don’t seem to have any energy left today.
So, here’s a picture from my drive home in beautiful West Virginia.
I’m going to go take a nap now.
November is known as National Novel Writing Month. Participants agree to write a 50,000-word novel in 30 days. By agree, I mean they make an agreement with themselves that they won’t make excuses for why they can’t write, and will just write. This year, I decided to sign up and this is my first week’s progress.
I have found this experience to be revealing. I have always been an inspiration based writer – as in, I only wrote when I was inspired to do so. Having such a large goal to reach in such a short time has made it necessary for me to write every single day, whether I am inspired to or not.
I am now on a 7-day writing streak. I am super proud of myself for not making excuses for why I can’t write and just getting to it already. Yesterday, I didn’t make my daily goal, but every other day I have. To keep myself on track, I wrote enough today to make up for my lack yesterday and to reach todays daily goal.
My writing may never be seen by anyone else, but the act of simply putting my thoughts on paper is a freeing experience. I’m glad I chose to participate.
